Jammu, Jan 19: The additionally deployed troops which were just on the way are all set to get back to Jammu and Kashmir in new of upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The government has decided to reallocate troops in the state so that the coming elections are held in a peaceful manner. Sources looking after the security set up told Press Bureau of India that the security arrangements for 2009 Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir are being worked out. The security set up will be jointly devised by the Jammu and Kashmir police and the state's election office. Sources said that ahead of the Lok Sabha elections Jammu and Kashmir state office of the Election Commissioner of India is gearing up for holding elections for six Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Eventually, the ECI is also working out the security arrangements in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, sources informed. The paramilitary forces from the Centre will again be called to Jammu and Kashmir for poll deployment to ensure smooth conduct of elections for all the six Lok Sabha constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the major affairs relating to setting up the security mechanism will be looked after by the Jammu and Kashmir police. Interestingly, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had given clear hints that the Jammu and Kashmir police will be playing a pivotal role in setting up the security mechanism in the state. His statement corroborated with the withdrawal of several battalions of the Central reserve police force from many areas of Srinagar city. Sources said that after the Jammu and Kashmir Police works out the deployment of paramilitary troops for poll security with the ECI, the Jammu and Kashmir government would then send a requisition to the Central Government. The state government had sought 600 companies of the paramilitary forces, out of which the Central Government had sanctioned about 400 companies of the paramilitary forces for the poll security during the state assembly elections, spread into seven phases in two months. Interestingly, the term of 14th Lok Sabha expires in May and the elections for the 15th Lok Sabha are likely to be held in April-May, this year.
