Ramban Admn celebrates 14th National Voters' Day across district

RAMBAN, Jan 25: District Election Officer, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary presided over a mega event organized by the Election Department to celebrate 14th National Voters' Day at Ramban.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohita Sharma flagged off a mammoth voters' awareness rally participated by the huge number of citizens, officers, students and other stakeholders commenced from Maitra Chowk and culminated in the premises of the District Administrative Complex, Ramban.
ADDC Ramban, Rajinder Sharma administered the Voters' pledge to the participants reposing unflinching faith in Indian democracy on the occasion of 14th National Voters' Day. The pledge exhorted young voters to be a sincere, unbiased, fearless and responsible voter.
Meanwhile, students from various schools presented colorful cultural programmes including song , skits and dance based on various themes, besides participating in a debate competition on the theme 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure' to mark 14th National Voters' Day. Speaking on the occasion, the DEO highlighted the importance of the day and significance of the Indian electoral process, besides achievements registered by the ECI in its long journey.
The DEO said that we are marking the day as the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI). He urged upon the youth to enroll themselves to obtain their EPICs which is a document of pride for all Indian citizens.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the BLOs, Supervisors, AEROs and EROs for their tireless efforts in bridging the gap of electoral Population gender ratio by registering 11000 new voters including 6700 female voters during Special Summary Revision-2024 w.r.t January 1, 2024 as the qualifying date in the district.
The SSP impressed upon the people especially, youth to sensitize their family members and others in their locality to use their right to franchise in forthcoming elections to contribute in the development of our country in all aspects. He also encouraged the women folk especially girls to focus on their education for their overall development.
Other attractions of the programme was selfie point with theme logo 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure' under SVEEP.
The DEO also handed-over wheel chairs to three PwD voters provided by the Social Welfare Department.
The DEO also felicitated various girl achievers identified by the District Social Welfare Officers, Rahul Gupta under "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao"Abhiyan for their achievements in their respective fields.
The DEO also felicitated the District Election Icons by presenting mementoes.
