Government Polytechnic College Jammu observes National Voters Day

JAMMU, Jan 25: Government Polytechnic College Jammu marked National Voters Day with fervor by organizing a debate and painting competition within the college premises. The event, conducted under the guidance of Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of Government Polytechnic College Jammu, saw the enthusiastic participation of more than 20 students from the college's IRG.
The celebration aimed to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India in 1950, observed on January 25, 2024. Er. Arun Bangotra shed light on the significance of National Voters Day, emphasizing its objective to increase voter enrollment and make universal adult suffrage a reality.
Addressing the gathering, Er. Arun Bangotra advised both staff and students to create awareness among society about the importance of voter registration and encourage active participation in elections for a stronger democracy in the country. As part of the celebration, all staff and students took a pledge on National Voters' Day to uphold the democratic values.
In the debate competition, Suhani Adhikari secured the first position, followed by Rizwan Mughal in second place, and Ranjana Devi in third place. The painting competition saw Vaneeta Sekhri, Riya Sharma, and Kajal Kumari clinching the first, second, and third positions, respectively. The judging panel comprised Er. Sukhdeep Singh, H.O.D Civil Engineering Department, and Er. Raj Kumar, H.O.D Mechanical Engineering Department.
The organizing team, including Er. Sakshi Kapahi, Er. Ruchi Mahajan, Er. Vicky Sharma, Ar. Himani Dubey, and Vinay Sharma, played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event. The vibrant participation and engagement of students reflected the commitment of Government Polytechnic College Jammu to instilling civic responsibility and democratic values among its student community.
