Dy. DEO inspects Special Camps at Heerpora

SHOPIAN, Jan 27: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Who is also District Panchayat Election Officer, a team of Officials lead by Deputy District Election Officer, Jahangir Ahmed today visited the Special Camps in Heerpora and its adjoining Panchayats.
The special camps were held across the district to register new voters as well as to fill the gap between the mother roll and Panchayat electoral roll.
The revision for the Panchayat Electoral Roll has started from 15th January and shall continue till 5th February 2024, during which all the new voters as well as those who are left out can get enrolled by applying through Form PER-2A . The eligible voters can approach their Panchayat Electoral Booth Officers who are either a local village worker or Gram Sevak.
During the inspection of polling stations, PEBO’s were urged to purify the electoral roll by making it complete and accurate. They were also urged to carry out door to door visit and maintain population register of their respective areas.
Special camps shall continue also on 27-01-2024, 28-01-2024, 03-02-2024 & 04-02-2024 during which PEBO’s shall be available in their Panchayat headquarters with their electoral rolls and forms for addition and deletion.
A large gathering of local residents and Assembly BLO’s were present at the camps. It was also stressed upon PEBO’s to undertake the task of spreading awareness among the people during the revision period.
The period for filling of applications shall be up to 5-02-2024 during which eligible voters can apply for enrolment.
The disposal of claims and objections’ shall be carried out by ERO’s till 16-02-2024 and the final publication of Panchayat Electoral Roll shall be carried out on 26-02-2024.
