DC Srinagar chairs DLIC meet on implementation of PM Vishwakarma; Accords approval for 295 cases

SRINAGAR, Jan 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Saturday chaired a meeting of District Level Implementation Committee(DLIC) on implementation of PM Vishwakarma here at Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress of registration of beneficiaries on the Portal.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was apprised by the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Srinagar that 2nd-level verification of as many as 295 Artisans of the District has been completed at the District Level Committee.
The DC was informed that 98 cases have been verified from rural areas by the Rural Development Department and 197 cases from urban areas of the District by Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
On the occasion, the DC accorded the approval for all 295 cases of the beneficiary Artisans of the District who will be imparted necessary trainings to upscale their professional skills, in addition, stipend and free of cost tool kits will also be provided to them during.
He emphasized the importance of concerted efforts and creating awareness among masses to maximize the scheme’s impact on the socio-economic upliftment of the Artisans. The DC said that the PM Vishwakarma scheme is poised to directly benefit thousands of artisans and craftsmen in the district, providing them with essential tools, training, and financial support for their socio-economic development.
The DC also laid stress on monitoring the implementation of PM Vishwakarma cases on a daily basis including progress in Artisan registration on Portal, verification processes in rural and urban areas, stakeholder capacity building. He emphasized the importance of creating awareness among masses to maximize the scheme’s impact on the ground to ensure efficient and effective implementation of PM Vishwakarma for overall welfare and socio-economic development of the Artisans.
Pertinent to mention that, the PM Vishwakarma scheme offers a range of benefits including toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000, training to artisans, Rs 500 per day during training, collateral-free credit supports up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.
The PM Vishwakarma scheme initially covers 18 trades including Carpenters, Boat Makers, Armourers, Blacksmiths, Hammer and Tool Kit, Makers, Locksmiths, Goldsmiths, Potters, Sculptor, Stone breakers, Cobblers (Shoe smith’s/ Footwear artisans), Masons, Basket/Mat/Broom Makers/Coir Weavers, Doll & Toy Makers, Barbers, Garland makers, Washermen, Tailors and Fishing Net Maker.
