Reasi, Jan 27: Dr. Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been felicitated by the District Administration, Reasi during the celebration of 75nd Republic Day here at Parade Ground, Reasi. He has been conferred the recognisation for his remarkable contributions in the agricultural sector specially his endeavors on organic and natural farming. Hon’ble DDC Chairman, Sh. Saraf Singh Nag and Worthy Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Sh.Vishesh Paul Mahajan presented appreciation certificate to Dr. Banarsi Lal and congratulated him for his endevours in the agricultural sector. Dr.Banarsi hails from Kathua district of J&K and he has been serving at KVK, Reasi for more than 17 years.
He has been upgrading the farming community with the innovative and improved agricultural technologies. Dr. Banarsi thanked Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi and Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J for the necessary guidelines and support. Dr. Banarsi was the Gold Medalist and is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. The scientist is endvouring for the organic and natural farming so as to produce the safe and healthy food. He has developed an innovative Mathematical Communication Model which has been considered as an innovative model to assess the communication behaviour of the farmers and has been recognized at national and international level. He is also working as Principal Investigator/Nodal Officer of ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture), Distt.Agro-Metrological Unit (DAMU), Upscaling of Natural Farming Projects and CO-PI of TSP (Tribal Sub-Plan) project undergoing in Reasi distt. of J&K to develop the agri-entrepreneurship among the rural youths/farmers and tribal farmers. It is worthwhile to mention here that Dr.Banarsi has written numerous publications as research papers in national and international journals, popular articles, technical bulletins, leaflets, folders, books and book chapters, success stories/case studies, training manuals, short communications etc. Dr.Banarsi is also recipient of many zonal, national and international awards. Presently he is an active member of many Professional Societies. Dr.Banarsi is striving for the socio-economic transformation of the farmers by promoting improved technologies of farming. Dr.Banarsi thanked the District Administration, Reasi for the recognization of his contribution in the agricultural sector.
