GCW Bhagwati Nagar organizes Road Safety Rally to promote Traffic Awareness

JAMMU, Jan 29: In a collaborative effort, the Department of Physical Education and Education, in association with the NSS Unit of Government College for Women (GCW) Bhagwati Nagar, organized a road safety rally to disseminate crucial information on traffic rules and road safety. The initiative, held under the guidance of Dr. Meeru Abrol, the college Principal, aimed to educate and raise awareness among the public.
Dr. Rekha Devi, PTI, addressed students at the beginning of the rally, emphasizing the importance of following road safety rules, including wearing seat belts and helmets. She highlighted the collective responsibility of every citizen in ensuring road safety.
Dr. Eisha Verma from the Department of Education provided insights into measures that individuals should adopt while traveling on any mode of transportation to ensure the safety of all road users.
The rally featured students displaying placards and posters illustrating traffic rules, contributing to the education of the general public on road safety.
Dr. Poonam Kumari, Convenor of the committee, and Prof. Anju Bala, NSS Programme Officer, actively participated in the event, showcasing their commitment to promoting road safety awareness.
The rally commenced from the college, traversing through the main road of Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu, concluding at Banda Bahadur Singh Chowk near the fourth Tawi Bridge.
Participants raised slogans during the rally, including "Drop down the Speed, you are the one your family needs," "Your fast drive can be your last drive," and "A normal drive will keep you alive." Approximately 50 students, accompanied by staff members, actively participated in the event.
The rally served as a platform for students to actively engage with the community, spreading awareness about road safety and encouraging responsible driving habits.
The collaborative effort between the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Education, and the NSS Unit at GCW Bhagwati Nagar reflects a commitment to community well-being. The road safety rally successfully educated participants and the general public about the importance of following traffic rules, fostering a culture of responsible driving for the safety and security of all road users.
