NYK, AIDS Control Society collaborate for HIV awareness program in Kuh Nallah

UDHAMPUR, Jan 29: In a joint effort to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Udhampur, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, organized a sensitization program under the "Out of School Youth Programme" at Panchayat Kuh Nallah, Block Jaganoo. The event, held on January 29, 2024, drew the participation of 50 enthusiastic youth from the region. Program, supervised by District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta, featured resource persons Dr. Sansar Singh and Dr. Chetan Sharma.
Former Sarpanch Sohan Singh and Panch Babli Devi actively participated in the awareness program.
NYV Suman Devi welcomed the guests and participants, providing insights into the program's objectives and benefits for rural youth.
Dr. Sansar Singh delivered a comprehensive lecture on the causes of HIV, emphasizing the critical need for precautions and the importance of awareness.
Highlighting the impact of reusing needles, unprotected sex, and contact with infected bodily fluids, Dr. Sansar Singh stressed the severity of the virus, which has claimed millions of lives worldwide.
Dr. Chetan Sharma shed light on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, explaining its attack on immune cells known as CD4 cells. He underlined how this weakens the body's ability to combat other diseases.
In addition to HIV awareness, Dr. Sharma addressed the audience on drug addiction, urging the youth to take the lead in combating this social challenge.
Former Sarpanch Sh. Sohan Singh and Panch Smt. Babli Devi actively participated in the program, demonstrating community support for crucial health initiatives.
