Jammu, Feb 20- State Vigilance Organization today caught red-handed Ali Mohammed Sofi, an official of the office of Chief Education Officer, Shopian, while accepting bribe of Rs.39,000 from a Rehbar-e-Taleem aspirant for appointment.
Shabir Ahmad Paul son of Ghulam Hassan of Dangerpora Shopian in a complaint alleged that Ali Mohammed Sofi is demanding Rs.80,000 as illegal gratification for appointment of his daughter Sumi Jan, an M. Sc, B. Ed as R-e-T. Teacher, as the authorities had illegally dropped her from the R-e-T panel. A case was accordingly registered and during the course of investigation the officials of State Vigilance Organization laid a successful trap at Shopian during which the accused was caught red handed while accepting Rs.39, 000 as bribe. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of accused in presence of independent witnesses. The accused was arrested for further investigation.
