ADGP Armed reviews final arrangements for All India Police Hockey Championship

JAMMU, Jan 29: ADGP Armed J&K Shri S.J.M Gillani-IPS convened a meeting of Senior Police Officer officials to review the final arrangements and preparations for the smooth and successful conduct of the 72nd All India Police Hockey Championship 2023-24 being hosted by Jammu & Kashmir Police from 30th January, 2024 to 8th February, 2024 at Jammu. A rehearsal ceremony for the opening ceremony of the championship was also held at K.K Hakku Stadium Jammu. The review meeting presided by the ADGP Armed J&K was attended by all the Managers of Hockey teams of State & UTs of India, designated Nodal officers, members of the J&K Hockey Association along with technical officers for carrying out different activities related to the event.
During the meeting, draws of Lots were held in which teams were distributed into different categories viz in Men's category, eight (08) groups viz Group (A)-Group (H). In the Group (A) teams of Punjab, Karnataka & Himachal Pradesh have been placed. Similarly, teams of ITBP, Maharashtra & Rajasthan in Group (B), Odisha, Uttrakhand & Uttar Pradesh in Group (C), CISF, Gujarat & Chandigarh in Group (D), Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh & SSB in Group (E), Tamil Nadu, BSF & Haryana in Group (F), CRPF, Kerala & RPF in Group (G) and West Bengal, Telangana, Puducherry & Jharkhand in Group (H) have been placed. Whereas in Women's category, (04) groups viz Group (A) - Group (D). In the Group (A) teams of CRPF & Haryana have been placed. Similarly, teams of SSB & Uttar Pradesh in Group (B), Odisha, Maharshtra & Gujarat in Group (C) and Tamil Nadu & Himachal Pradesh in Group (D) have been placed
While addressing the meeting, Shri S.J.M Gillani-IPS ADGP divulged that 34 Hockey teams from across the country are participating in the Championship. He directed the Managing Staff that all facilities & other issues relating to the conduct of the event should be carried out meticulously especially the arrangements regarding opening and closing ceremonies of the championship and ensure the participation of the public, students, and civil society members at the venue.
In his address, ADGP said that hosting of such event is an honor for the J&K Police and we are committed to provide the teams & technical staff with every possible facility during the event. He impressed upon the managing staff to put in place all possible resources for the smooth conduct of the event.
