Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Jan 30: Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur observed Martyr's Day, solemnly commemorating the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation. The event took place under the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Prof.(Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta. Martyr's Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, coincides with the Punyatithi (Death Anniversary) of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
Staff and students of GDC Udhampur gathered to observe two minutes of silence at 11:00 am in the College Vatika, paying homage to those who laid down their lives during the struggle against British Colonial rule. This symbolic act served as a respectful remembrance of the sacrifices made for the country's independence.
Faculty members, along with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Program Officer and volunteers, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, and Chandershekhar Azad. This gesture marked the 76th Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, honoring his significant contribution to the freedom of the country.
