Government SPMR College of Commerce celebrates sports brilliance

JAMMU, Jan 30: In a vibrant celebration of athletic prowess and dedication, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, hosted its annual Prize Distribution Ceremony for the 2022-23 sports session. The event, pulsating with excitement, recognized the remarkable achievements of its student athletes and highlighted the college's commitment to fostering holistic development.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, who lauded the outstanding performances of the college's sports teams and commended the institution's dedication to cultivating sporting talent.
Principal Dr. Surinder Kumar eloquently elaborated on the department's triumphs, emphasizing the unwavering spirit and commitment of the student athletes. He highlighted the valuable life lessons learned through athletic pursuits, including discipline, focus, teamwork, and perseverance. Over 200 students actively participated in various Inter-College Tournaments organized by Cluster University of Jammu, showcasing their skills and dedication. Remarkably, more than 50 students earned the privilege of representing Cluster University of Jammu at North Zone and All India Inter-University competitions, bringing immense pride to the college.
The college emerged victorious in several categories, claiming championships in Women's Badminton, Men's Table-Tennis, and Men's Boxing, while dominating Judo (Men) and Wrestling (Men) with overall championship titles. The Men's Kho-Kho team also clinched the coveted championship, adding to the season's triumphs.
Dignitaries like Dr. Jitender Khajuria (Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu), Dr. Ranvijay Singh (Dean Student Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu), and Dr. Vinod Bakshi (Director Sports, Cluster University of Jammu) lent their presence and valuable insights to the celebration.
Prof. Deepshikha Sharma, NSS PO, warmly welcomed the guests and orchestrated the program with grace and efficiency.
The meticulous coordination and management by Malik Aijaz (Physical Director), Prof. Deepshikha Sharma, Pawan Kumar, and Faroog ensured the event's smooth and joyous execution, making it a perfect tribute to the athletes' dedication and achievements.
