JAMMU, Jan 30: In solemn remembrance of the sacrifices made during the struggle for India's Independence, the students and staff of Govt. College for Women Bhagwati Nagar observed two minutes of silence on January 30th, known as Martyrs' Day. The heartfelt tribute was a mark of respect for those who laid down their lives for the nation's freedom.
As part of the commemoration, an event was organized, featuring the enthusiastic participation of 11 students who delivered speeches on various aspects of the freedom struggle and national integration. The speeches were dedicated to paying homage to the courageous soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their motherland. Martyrs' Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, is observed annually in India on January 30th, marking the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Convenor of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), spoke passionately on the occasion, offering homage to the unsung heroes of the nation and the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for an independent, sovereign, and liberal India. She emphasized the significance of commemorating such important days to remember and honor the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, acknowledging that it is because of their dedication that we can freely walk on our motherland today.
The program concluded with a poignant moment as everyone joined in singing the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and pride in the shared heritage of a free and independent India. The event served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the nation's heroes and reinforced the commitment to preserving and cherishing the hard-fought freedom.
