Vijay Kumar-IPS assumes charge as ADGP Armed J&K

JAMMU, Feb 1: Vijay Kumar-IPS officially assumed the responsibilities of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K on Thursday at the Armed Police Headquarters in Jammu. Vijay Kumar, a seasoned officer of the 1997 batch of the IPS cadre in Jammu & Kashmir, was warmly welcomed by senior police officers, commandants of Armed Police and Indian Reserve Battalions, as well as officers and staff members of APHQ J&K.
Having previously served as ADGP Law & Order J&K, Vijay Kumar was entrusted with the additional charge of ADGP Armed J&K by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The official order, numbered 55-Home of 2024 and dated January 27, 2024, was issued by the Home Department of J&K.
The transition comes following the transfer of S.J.M Gillani-IPS, who held the position of Addl. DGP Armed J&K. Gillani, upon his transfer, assumed the role of Addl. DGP Railways, J&K, with an additional charge as Managing Director of Police Housing Corporation, J&K. The outgoing official received a warm send-off as he moved on to his new responsibilities.
Vijay Kumar brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, and his assumption of duties as ADGP Armed J&K marks a pivotal moment in the leadership of the state's armed forces. The police force under his guidance is expected to continue its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the region.
