Jammu, Feb 1: A 10-year-old boy lost his life due to electrocution near an old bridge at Akhnoor here.
According to the details available with Early Times the victim Akshay Kumar son of Yograj touched a faulty electric pole, which carried the current and died on the spot.
Local residents revealed that they had raised concerns about the dangerous condition of the electric pole two days prior to the incident. Disturbingly, their pleas for prompt action went unanswered, ultimately resulting in the tragic death of the young boy.
Prompt police response to the incident unveiled preliminary findings point towards a short circuit in the electric pole as the cause of the fatal electrocution.

The locals alleged gross negligence on the part of the electric department, emphasizing that they had informed the department about the hazardous situation well in advance.
Despite the explicit warning from concerned residents, no action was taken, leading to the fatal consequences.
The grieving family of the deceased boy is now demanding accountability from the Power Department and a thorough investigation into the lapses that led to this tragedy.
Meanwhile, Police said that the victim died due to electric shock near Steel bridge Akhnoor.
Police have registered a case FIR No 22/2024 U/s 304 -A against PDD officials.
