Early Times Report

Udhampur, Feb 4: The monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) took place under the leadership of UT President Vinod Sharma and District President Udhampur, Lekh Raj Parihar. Representatives from all eleven zones of the district attended the meeting, discussing pressing concerns within the teaching community.
Mr. Vinod Sharma, addressing the gathering, urgently called for the immediate release of more than a year’s dues for Mid Day Meals. He emphasized that teachers have been managing these expenses from their own pockets in schools. Despite repeated appeals through the media, only 3 to 4 months’ dues have been released, leaving outstanding liabilities for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24. Sharma warned that if the dues are not released promptly, teachers may be forced to halt the Mid Day Meals for economically disadvantaged students.
Additionally, Mr. Sharma raised several other genuine issues affecting the teaching fraternity, urging authorities to resolve them for the welfare of thousands of teachers in the UT. Key concerns addressed included:
1. Comprehensive transfer policy for teachers appointed under the ReT scheme who have been serving in the same schools for over two decades.
2. Conversion of head teachers’ posts into non-plan posts of masters to address the issue of headless middle schools.
3. Clear directives from the Administrative Department regarding permissions for teachers and masters to enhance their qualifications.
4. Regularization orders for ReTs who have completed five years in the ReT period, along with the conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III.
