A large number of local residents of the town hold protest demonstration against Railway authorities, here today.
According to reports a protest rally was hold under the chairmanship of Abdul Hamid Rishi, Senior Vice President of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) demanding, that the local youth should given preference for jobs in the railways. Rishi said that people of the area were assured by the railway authorities that preference will be given to local, whose land has been acquired for construction of Railway Lines from Katra to Baramulla. He said, instead if this railway authority is engaging outsiders, which is a great injustice with the locals, whose land has been acquired for laying of railway line he added, this will not be tolerated. He demanded that jobs should be provided to local youth.
During the demonstration traffic came to halt and protestors raised slogans against railways. Police immediately came into action and arrested Hamid Rishi and others, and cleared the road for traffic.
