GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organizes poster making, slogan writing competition

UDHAMPUR, Feb 5: In an effort to raise awareness about road safety, the Road Safety Club at GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized a poster making and slogan writing competition under the "National Road Safety Campaign." The event, held on February 5th, 2024, saw enthusiastic participation from more than thirty students, reflecting their commitment to promoting responsible road behavior.
Under the able guidance of Prof. Hans Raj, the Principal of the college, the competition aimed to highlight the importance of adhering to road safety rules through creative expression. Students crafted posters and wrote slogans focusing on the essential Do's and Don'ts related to road safety.
In the Slogan Writing competition, Simran Roy secured the 1st position, followed by Bhoomika Sharma in 2nd place and Aayushi Sharma in 3rd place. In the Poster Making competition, Mebish Akhter, Shahina Akhtar, and Taniya Sharma clinched the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, respectively.
The participants were awarded certificates on the spot, recognizing their efforts in promoting road safety awareness. The competition was judged by Dr. Maansi Sharma, Dr. Sunil Tanoch, and Prof. Rekha Sharma, who evaluated the creativity and effectiveness of the entries.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Hans Raj, the Principal, emphasized the significance of following road safety measures, including wearing helmets, seat belts, abstaining from driving under the influence of alcohol, and adhering to speed limits. He stressed the importance of maintaining a safe distance while driving to prevent collisions.
The event was organized by Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, the Convenor of the Road Safety Club at the college. The organizing committee members, including Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Mahima Bhagat, Dr. Zahoor Mir, Dr. Muntazir Wani, and Swati Sharma, were present during the occasion, contributing to the success of the awareness campaign. The competition not only showcased the artistic talents of the students but also reinforced the commitment of GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur towards fostering a culture of responsible and safe road practices.
