BR Sharma Re-elected as Chairman of IIPA J&K Regional Branch

JAMMU, Feb 5: In a significant development, Shri B.R. Sharma, IAS (Retd), has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Jammu and Kashmir Regional Branch for the term 2024-2026. This decision was made during the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on February 4, 2024. Dr. Ashok Bhan, IPS (Retd), Former DGP of J&K Police, will serve as the Patron of the branch during this period. The AGM witnessed the election of new office bearers and the nomination of the Executive Committee for the term 2024-2026. The elected office bearers include Er. J.B.S. Johar as Vice Chairman (Jammu), Dr. G.N. Qasba as Vice Chairman (Kashmir), K.B. Jandial, IAS (Retd) as Vice Chairman (Central), Prof. Alka Sharma as Honorary Secretary, Shri Vikrant Kuthiala as Honorary Treasurer, Dr. Anil Gupta as Joint Secretary (Jammu), and G.M. Andrabi as Joint Secretary (Kashmir).
The Executive Committee, comprising 15 members, features eminent individuals such as Kuldeep Khoda, IPS (Retd), A.M. Watali, IPS (Retd), Dr. C.M. Seth, IFS (Retd), Prof. Rekha Choudhary, Col (Retd) Karan Singh, Prof. Mehraj-ud-din, Prem Gupta, IPS (Retd), Narinder Khajuria, JKAS, Dr. Komal Nagar, Ansuya Jamwal, JKAS, Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, JKAS, Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, IPS, and Sh. Mubashir Amin Khan, JKAS.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. B R Sharma expressed his gratitude to the outgoing team and outlined plans to strengthen the branch by initiating programs across the region. He emphasized the importance of IIPA's existence, highlighting the need for activities that benefit both society and the government.
Dr. Ashok Bhan, in his congratulatory address, commended the branch for being recognized as the 1st best branch in the country. He urged the branch to consolidate its position by excelling in training programs and research initiatives, aligning with the broader vision of IIPA. As the branch celebrates its golden jubilee in the next 5 years, he encouraged building credibility among various agencies.
The AGM also featured the presentation of the annual report by Prof. Alka Sharma, Honorary Secretary, and the financial statement by Vikrant Kuthiala, Honorary Treasurer. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Anil Gupta, Joint Secretary, who extended the formal vote of thanks. Sh. Prem Gupta, IPS (Retd), served as the returning officer during the election process. The event concluded with a sense of commitment and enthusiasm for the upcoming term.
