| Moderate intensity earthquake jolts J&K parts | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 20: Panic gripped almost entire Jammu and Kashmir this morning as most parts of the state experienced moderate earthquake jolts forcing residents in many areas rushing out of their homes. Experts said that an earthquake of 5.4-magnitude rocked the Jammu and Kashmir and Parts of Pakistan on Friday morning. In Srinagar, the quake shook buildings making residents to rush out of their homes in panic. In many congested parts of the city residents came out on the open roads and stayed there as the quake shook the buildings for almost 10 seconds. Reports from the old city said that at least two old and abandoned houses suffered further damage because of the earthquake. However, there were no immediate reports of any fatal causality. Second jolt was experienced in the afternoon at 2 PM as the earth beneath shook spreading panic among the people. In Baramulla north Kashmir one person suffered injuries after he panicked and jumped from the first floor of a shopping complex where he was running a beauty parlor. Police sources said that one Mohammad Asif of Uttar Pradesh was injured after he jumped from the first floor of a building. He has been shifted to Army hospital for treatment. Reports from Kupwara District said that three people were injured at Karnah as three houses suffered partial damage during the earthquake. Police said that the OPD building of Karnah sub district hospital also suffered some damages. The epicentre of the quake was 91 kilometres west of Srinagar and 93 kilometres northeast of the Pakistani capital Islamabad, a mountain area marking the Line of Control.
