Shiv Sena demands action on delayed Amarnath Yatri Niwas construction
2/6/2024 10:56:47 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 6: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has voiced strong condemnation against the delay in the construction of Shri Amarnath Yatri Niwas at Sidda, Jammu, calling out the indifferent attitude of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.
During a press conference held at the party’s state office, state chief Manish Sahni expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in the construction work, despite the foundation stone being laid 27 months ago. Sahni pointed out the stark contrast between the swift completion of the grand temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya within three years and the stagnant state of the Amarnath Base Camp construction.
Highlighting the ceremonial foundation stone laying events in November 2021 and June 2023, Sahni emphasized the need for immediate action to initiate construction, especially considering the allocated funds of Rs 51 crore from ONGC. The proposed facilities, including accommodation for pilgrims, medical facilities, and disaster management centers, remain unrealized, leaving the designated site in a state of neglect.
Sahni expressed concern over the impact on Hindu religious sentiments due to the site’s current condition, urging the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to prioritize the commencement of construction work without further delay.
The press conference was attended by various party officials, including President of the Mehila wing, Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Vice President Sanjeev Kohli, and President of the Kanghar wing, Raj Singh.
Shiv Sena’s call for action underscores the urgency of addressing the delay and ensuring the timely completion of essential infrastructure to facilitate the sacred pilgrimage to Amarnath.
