Shiv Public school students’ on BIS exposure visit

Students from Shiv Public Higher Secondary School Jammu embarked on a transformative journey as they participated in an exposure visit organized by the BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office to Saraswati Plasto Tech India Pvt. Ltd. in Bari Brahmana.
The purpose of the visit was to acquaint the students with quality standards by providing them with firsthand exposure to a BIS-certified manufacturing facility.
Ashish Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer at JKBO, elucidated the objectives of the program and provided insights into the various activities undertaken by BIS.
He emphasized BIS’s crucial role in safeguarding consumer rights through the establishment and enforcement of standards and conformity assessment procedures.
Encouraging active engagement, Dwivedi informed the students about the significance of the standards club and upcoming competitions focused on quality and standards.
Subsequently, Mr. Rajkumar, Assistant Director at JKBO, shed light on hallmarking schemes and elaborated on the functioning of the JK Referral Assaying Laboratory of BIS, enriching the students’ understanding of quality assurance mechanisms.
Mehak Rasool, Resource Person at JKBO, delivered a comprehensive presentation covering various aspects such as standards formulation, product certification, hallmarking, and the compulsory registration scheme. She acquainted the students with the government-mandated ISI mark certification for a diverse range of products, underscoring the importance of adherence to quality standards.
Additionally, Rasool demonstrated the BIS Care App, empowering users with easy access to information on Indian Standards, authentication of ISI-marked products, and avenues for lodging complaints.
Under the mentorship of Mr. Akhil Dev Singh, 27 students from the standard club of Shiv Public Higher Secondary School Jammu actively participated in the visit, displaying keen interest in the activities of BIS.
The students commended BIS for organizing such enlightening exposure visits, acknowledging the invaluable insights gained during the excursion.
The visit served as a platform for the students to broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of quality assurance practices, thereby equipping them with valuable knowledge for their future endeavors.
The initiative received accolades for fostering an environment of learning and empowerment among the youth, further strengthening the collaboration between educational institutions and industry stakeholders.
