Srinagar, Feb 6: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday filed a charge sheet against six persons, including one who is based in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in a narco terror case in Baramulla Court.
The case relates to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and narcotics last year from a village close to the Line of Control in the Uri area of Baramulla district.
Police said SIU Baramulla produced the charge sheet for case FIR No. 104/2023 under sections 7/25 IA Act, 120-B IPC, 13, 18, 18B, 20, 23, and 40 UAP Act of Police Station Uri before the Court of Additional Sessions Judge (NIA Court) Baramulla.
The charge sheet was produced against six accused persons, namely Mohammad Aslam Khatana of Churunda Uri, Muneer Ahmad Din Masi of Jabla Uri, Bilal Ahmad Dar of Hard Shiva Sopore, Akhtar Niyaz Bhat of Mukhdam Mohalla Tarzoo Sopore, and Mudasir Yousuf Goknu of Bagi Islam Krankshivan Colony Sopore, who are all under judicial custody.
Moreover, one more accused, Mohammad Hassan Awan, of Dharkoot Uri, at present Tehsil Bagh, Pakistan, Occupied Kashmir, has also been named in the charge sheet under Section 299 CrPC.
The next date of hearing in the case is fixed for February 20.
On August 11, 2023, arms, ammunition, and narcotics were recovered from the five accused persons at a checkpoint established at Powarian Thajal Uri, the police said.
They were found to be involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers and its further distribution to Lashkar-e-Taiba militants for carrying out terror activities, police added.
