| The Banyan Tree School conducts conference on effective parenting | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 21- A conference on “Effective Parenting” (Understanding the toddlers of today) was held at “The Banyan Tree School” today A well known Psychologist, Professor, Department of Psychology, Delhi University Dr Aruna Broota who was the main speaker gave an impressive speech on “Effective Parenting”. She shared her rich and personal experiences. Her main focus was on the role played by grandparents in maintaining rich cultural heritage, impact of comparison and conflicting atmosphere on the growth of child, importance of balanced diet. She suggested counseling for an aggressive child in order to bring harmony and personality development. . The conference was interactive and informative for the young parents. Addressing the parents she suggested them to spare the rod and make themselves more civilized. ‘Scold the children but don’t hamper their self respect and ego’, she said and also answered some of the queries asked by parents. Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari Deputy Commissioner, Jammu who was the chief guest on the occasion appreciated The Banyan Tree Family for organizing such an informative and knowledgeable session. He said that today in the age of stress and competition, parents should know how to keep a balance in the family and having high expectations from the children parents should themselves learn to come up to the expectations of the children Around 250 parents were there for the conference from different strata of Jammu society. Few of the imminent people to grace the occasion were Maj Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd.), Sister Maria Luisa from ST. Mary’s Presentation Convent, Sudhir Mahajan, Principal of Shamrock School, Rupa Gupta from Model Academy. Large number of schools had sent their representatives to attend the conference. Pooja Mahajan and Vicky Mahajan members of the management were also present in the conference and gave away the mementoes. S. Chauhan, the Principal of the School thanked Dr.A. Broota, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, heads of various institutions, members of faculty, parents and other guests for making the conference an interactive one. The conference came to an end with a melodious school song and delicious lunch.
