Jammu, Feb 7: In a momentous occasion marking a significant milestone, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre Jammu inaugurated its own state-of-the-art campus at Rajinder Vihar Housing Colony, Phase-I, Bantalab, Jammu. The long-awaited inauguration, which took place virtually, was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, on the 7th of February, 2024. Since its inception in 1998, the IGNOU operations in Jammu and Kashmir had been operating without a dedicated campus.
However, after 26 years of anticipation, the regional centre finally possesses a permanent campus, equipped with modern facilities spread over a built-up area of approximately 6800 sq.ft., nestled on a 14.5 kanals parcel of land. The virtual inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, Dr. Srikant Mohapatra, Pro Vice Chancellor, IGNOU. |
