2/8/2024 11:21:03 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 8: National Conference has exhibited its authority within the INDIA alliance by staking claim on three Kashmir Lok Sabha seats and has stated that talks within the INDIA bloc would be held over the seats that were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019 elections.
"There has been no talk on seat-sharing (within the INDIA alliance) so far. Congress is ready for the talks and they want us to talk to them.
In the coming days, there will be a discussion, especially about the three seats (Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh) which are with the BJP.
There is no point over holding talks on the seats (Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla) which are with the INDIA alliance,” National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah told reporters.
It’s in place to mention here that the three seats which Omar doesn’t want any talks on are those which were won by the NC in 2019.
“The seats (won by NC in 2019) are INDIA all
There has been no talk on seat-sharing within the INDIA alliance so far.
NC says no point over holding talks on Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla seats.
The fight is to take those seats back which are with the BJP.
PDP has no role to play in the forthcoming LS polls. It has surrendered its ground to NC and Congress.
ance seats. What do I have to talk about with the INDIA alliance on these seats? The fight is not within the INDIA alliance. The fight is to take those seats back which are with the BJP. Since three seats are with the INDIA alliance, I do not need to discuss those with them,” Omar said, without mincing any words.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “As the Lok Sabha elections are drawing closer its becoming clear that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mehbooba Mufti has no role to play in the forthcoming polls.
It has surrendered its ground to NC and Congress. It seems the PDP has understood that it stands on a weak wicket and may find it difficult to contest the elections alone.”
He said, “PDP’s surrender has put pressure on NC and Congress to perform and win all the six Lok Sabha seats in J&K.
But in the changed political scenario it appears that INDIA alliance constituents may find it hard to stage any upset.”
