Beigh thanks PM, HM raises many eyebrows
Grant of ST status to Paharis
2/8/2024 11:21:46 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 8: Exactly a month after his “Ghar Wapsi” in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh extended an olive branch to the Union Government.
Beigh, who time and again praised the Prime Minister on different occasions, seized the opportunity of the passing of the Bill in the Parliament to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Paharis.
Earlier Beigh has praised the Prime Minister a number of times but it is the first time after rejoining the PDP he has praised the Union Government, especially Prime Minister and Home Minister.
On January 7, on the death anniversary of the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Beigh rejoined the PDP. PDP leadership seized every opportunity to criticise Union Government for the sake of criticism.
Co-founder of PDP Muzaffar Hussain Beigh had resigned from the party on November 14, 2020. Beigh had charged the incumbent leadership of the party with surrendering before other constituents of the Peoples’ Alliance of Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
Being a Pahari, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh expressed gratitude to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular for passing the historical bill in the Parliament.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha for granting reservation to the Pahari community of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also praised those parties and individuals who raised the issue and fought for the rights of the community.
According to a Kashmir-based news agency, Beigh said that the move has turned into a reality due to strenuous efforts of the country’s present leadership led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Important to mention that Muzaffar Hussain Beigh is patron of the Jammu and Kashmir Pahari Culture and Welfare Forum (JKPCWF) a premier representative organization of the Pahari Community of J&K.
Forum expressed its sincere gratitude to the Government of India for passing the Constitutional Schedule Tribe Amendment Bill in the Parliament which was a long-pending justified demand of the Pahari Tribe.
Terming it a milestone in the ongoing struggle of the Pahari community for four decades, the Forum thanked Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their personal efforts.
