| Attempt to loot petrol pump foiled | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER KATRA | SEPT 20 The Katra police today foiled an attempt to loot a petrol pump at Tikri, by four persons who were arrested before committing the crime. According to reports late last night a Marauti van under No. JK02-8664 o f Yog Raj as stolen from Katra Bazar an the missing report was lodged in the police station by the owner and case u/s 379 R.P.C under F.I.R No. 169/2006 was registered. Police launched a massive hunt to recover it. All the nakas were accordingly informed. As per source early morning today naka party at Tikri saw the stolen vehicle alongwith five occupants and informed the Katra police. As they broke the naka and try to fled away, the police in the direction of SSP, Udhampur, P.R. Manhas the Dy. SP Katra, Anil Magotra along with SHO P.R. Manhas followed them and after a long chase arrested four accused while are fled away from the spot. During the interrogation the arrest persons identified as Mangal Singh R/o Kun-Katra, Ganesh Sharma, Deepak Sharma and Rakesh Singh all residents of Katra disclosed that there plan was to loot Tikri petrol pump and a local businessman beside to kill a noted gangster Varun Sharma of the area. Police recovered three sharp edged weapons and ‘Mirchi Powder’, which they used to throw into the eyes of victims. Police have registered the case and has launched hunt to nab the person who fled away identified as Sahil Sadhotra alias Golu of Katra.
