26th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2023-24 set to kick off in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 10: The J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) is gearing up to host the prestigious "26th J&K UT TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023-24," showcasing talent in Kyorugi, Poomsae, and Para categories. Under the auspices of the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) and the J&K Sports Council, the event is scheduled to commence from February 14th to 16th, 2024, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
This championship invites participation from Sub Junior Boys and Girls (aged between 7 & 11+ Years), Cadets (aged between 12 & 14 Years), and Juniors (aged between 15 & 17 Years), as per the age criteria set for the year 2023. Eligibility mandates participation in the respective District Taekwondo Championships 2023-24, with only two athletes per Kyorugi weight category from each district association eligible to compete.
Athletes looking to compete must possess a valid JKTA Athlete License and JKSC registration. Online registration, a prerequisite for participation, closes on February 13th, 2024, at 10:00 PM.
Medallists from the Cadet, Junior, and Senior girls' age groups will earn the privilege to represent J&K-UT in Phase 2 of the 1st Khelo India Women's Taekwondo League 2023-24, slated from February 21st to 24th, 2024, at the KD Singh Babu Indoor Stadium, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The organizational framework for this championship was unanimously decided in a meeting presided over by Sh. Rajesh Pangotra, President of the J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd). Mr. Atul Pangotra has been appointed as Technical Chairman, with Mr. Chandeep Singh, a World Para Championship Medallist, and Mr. Zaheer Abbas Khan, an International Player, serving as Technical Members. Anuj Sharma has been designated as the Organizing Secretary for the event.
All participating athletes are advised to report to the Indoor Sports Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, on February 14th, 2024, at 3:00 PM sharp for the weigh-in process. They must bring completed registration forms, signed by parents, along with proof of date of birth issued by the Municipality or Concerned Sarpanch of the village, Aadhar Card, and a copy of their bank passbook.
The 26th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2023-24 promises to be a platform for budding talents to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level, fostering the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie within the Taekwondo community.
