JAMMU, Feb 10: In a significant stride towards bolstering law enforcement's capabilities in handling cases related to women's safety, the S.K. Police Academy concluded a comprehensive five-day training program sponsored by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), New Delhi. The program, which commenced on January 5th, 2024, witnessed the participation of twenty-two diligent police officers ranging from the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP), including one female officer.
The training curriculum was meticulously crafted to sharpen the investigative skills of officers and acquaint them with the latest legal provisions, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, and Information Technology (IT) Act. Esteemed guest speakers, renowned for their expertise, such as Dr. Kavita Suri from the University of Jammu, Ashwani Kumar, Darshan Singh, and Advocate Supriya Chouhan, amongst others, imparted invaluable insights on various pertinent topics.
Ashish Gupta, JKPS, Dy.SP, and Assistant Director (Training/Research & Development) at SKPA, graced the valediction ceremony as the Chief Guest. In his address, he underscored the paramount importance of sensitivity towards women victims and emphasized adherence to established guidelines. He reiterated the course's primary objective of augmenting the capacity of investigating officers, particularly in cases concerning women.
The valedictory session also witnessed the presence of the esteemed faculty of SKPA, symbolizing their commitment to the cause of enhancing law enforcement's capabilities. The seamless execution of the program owes much to the coordination efforts led by Shri Sandeep Mahajan, Inspector, with assistance from HC Randip Singh.
The successful conclusion of this training initiative marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of women in society. It reflects the collective dedication of law enforcement agencies towards fostering a safer environment through continuous learning and skill development.
