Early Times Report
Mendhar, Feb 21: A National Conference worker died of cardiac arrest and three others sustained injuries after being electrocuted while hoisting a party flag prior to the scheduled visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Mendhar in Poonch district.
They said that Muhammad Sharief, 50, son of Hatimudin of Uchad Mendah died on the spot after being hit by three persons who fell down from a partition wall they were atop to hoist a NC flag. While Sharief had no apparent injuries, doctors who attended upon him said his death occurred due to cardiac failure.
The trio, sources said, fell subsequent to receiving electric current after metal pipe of the flag touched the Low tension wire through the area.
The Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, who was addressing a public meeting at Surankote at the time of the incident, has expressed profound shock over the loss of a human life and injuries to three persons.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sympathy with the family of the deceased and instructed the district administration to provide best possible treatment to the injured. He wished them speedy recovery.
