Police apprehends drug peddler at Katra railway station: Seizes heroin-like substance

REASI, Feb 11: In a concerted effort to combat the scourge of drug abuse, Reasi District Police has intensified its drive, yielding yet another significant breakthrough. A police team from the Katra Police Station, during routine foot patrolling near the Katra Railway Station, apprehended an individual acting suspiciously earlier today.
The apprehended individual has been identified as Sudharshan Singh, son of Sunder Singh, hailing from Trintha, Reasi. Upon thorough frisking of the bag carried by Sudharshan Singh, the police discovered a substance resembling heroin, weighing approximately 8.2 grams.
Prompt action followed suit as a case under FIR No. 46/2024, invoking Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, has been registered at the Katra Police Station. The investigative process has been initiated to dismantle the networks associated with the possession and trafficking of illicit substances.
The operation, spearheaded by SHO Katra, Nishant Gupta, operates under the vigilant oversight of SDPO Katra, Surinder Baloria, and SP Katra, Vipin Chandran- JKPS.
Mohita Sharma-IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, emphasized the district police's comprehensive approach in addressing the pervasive issues of drug abuse and illicit liquor. Undeterred by challenges, Reasi Police remains steadfast in its commitment to purging society of these menaces, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice and societal well-being.
