POONCH, FEB 21: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today that his making his administrative sensitive and responsive enough that they will search for the public to address their woes. Highlighting the importance of close and constant rapport between Government and public for good governance, the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today asserted that his Government would be on heels to move across the State visualising difficulties and needs of the people. He said personal appraisal enables planners to formulate area-specific and need-based programmes for the integrated development. Addressing well-attended public meetings at Surankote and Poonch, Abdullah said the strong public-Government relations would be the hallmark of his Government in the next six years. "I am committed to be always in touch with you to receive firsthand information about the quality of service being provided by the administration", he added. The Chief Minister said the people's difficulties cannot be felt in the cosy rooms of the Civil Secretariat. Ministers and Administrators have to travel across the State to remain in constant touch with the people and be at their beck and call. "Leader is one who leads from the front. I will march to take Government to the doorsteps of the people", he told the administration and urged officers to follow him in this regard. The Chief Minister said that he wanted to bring about a change where people will not have to search the Government but the Government itself will look for the public to hear them and address their grievances. Mr. Abdullah said that he is determined to write a new chapter in the governance history of Jammu and Kashmir where his coalition Government will be known for quality public service and development of all areas irrespective of any consideration of region, religion or race. Referring to the Indo-Pak relations, Mr. Abdullah enumerated the merits of the good relations between the two neighbours for enhanced peace and prosperity in the area. He expressed hope that the thaw in the relations will take stage, melting down the ice. He said Congress and National Conference were opposite to each other in the arena of Assembly elections, but in the task of governance and carrying forward the process of development, the two parties are united as per the mandate of the people. "Both parties are above politics of divide and rule. We do not create wedge between communities, regions and religions for vote-bank politics and vested interests but are committed for unity in diversity and equitable development without any considerations". Speaking on the occasion, Mian Altaf Ahmad said that attention would be paid on rejuvenating forest wealth in Poonch and Rajouri districts. Earlier, the Chief Minister en route reached Poonch via Dera Ki Gali, and inspected Rs. 255 crore 84-km long Mughal Road project from Buffliaz side. He drove about 10 km on the under-execution road and got appraisal of the work. He directed for early commissioning of the road project saying that it was projected and piloted by Baba-e-Quam, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and it will be his pleasure to inaugurate the long cherished project. Mr. Abdullah also visited Mausoleum of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah and Shahdra Sharief and paid obeisance there. He prayed for peace and prosperity of the State and its people. Mian Altaf Ahmad also accompanied the Chief Minister. Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mr. Devender Singh Rana, MLA, Poonch, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Jan, MLA Kalakote, Mr. Rachhpal Singh, Provincial President of NC, Mr. R. L. Gupta, former MLAs, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari and Jehangir Mir, besides senior leader, Mr. Ajay Sadhotra were also present.
