HPS student shines in Toycathon-2023

JAMMU, Feb 13: Prerna Rai, a student of class 12th added a feather in the cap of school by winning 1st prize in Toycathon - 2023 an initiative started by SCERT, Jammu & Kashmir. She won a gold medal in the category (III) for classes 11th to 12th, Jammu Division. The girl participated in the Toycathon which was held on 18 September,2023. Prerna Rai chose the theme 'Traditional Toy'. She made a Rajasthani doll from waste material & adorned it with colourful glittering beads, laces etc depicting the rich & colourful heritage of Rajasthan. The doll was made at a low budget that can be affordable by all. The doll was named 'Sakhi' i.e. Friend, so every girl can relate their doll with their friend.4779 students had participated in the category (III).
Toycathon an initiative by SCERT, Jammu & Kashmir started in 12 May, 2023 under the theme "Innovation Ideas & Revival of Local Heritage". The competition was organised under 3 categories:-
I. Classes 6th to 8th, II. Classes 9th to 10th III and Classes 11th to 12th
The different levels of the competition were:- I. School Level
II. District Level III. Exhibition at District Level IV. Grand Finale. 53,947 students from Govt. & Pvt. School participated in the competition from Jammu Division. The initiative organised under the innovation cell of the Ministry of Education, Government of India witnessed significant participation from Jammu & Kashmir, with a total of 1,25,000 students.
The Principal of the school, Gaurav Charak & the Vice Principal, Anku Charak congratulated the girl for her marvellous achievement, Parents & her mentor, Meenu Khajuria (Activity Incharge) for her guidance. They also appreciated the participation of other students of HPS who participated in Toycathon and attracted the attention of selection committee also. Naitik Attri of class 8th, Manvi and Bhumika of class 10th and Shruti of class 12th were the other participants from Humanity Public School in Toycathon 2023.
The proud parents of winner thanked the Principal & school management for timely support & guidance that led to this achievement. A special assembly was organized to felicitate the girl on stage in the presence of Incharges, staff members & students etc.
Gaurav Charak, Principal applauded Prerna Rai's achievement & said she is an example of hard work & determination. He further said that teachers have a great responsibility in finding such hidden talents of students & must bring into the notice of all, as our country needs such talents.
