JAMMU, Feb 13: Under the esteemed guidance of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, a counseling session focusing on the Need and Importance of Counseling in an Educational Environment was organized for female students. The session, held in collaboration with Brainpreneurs, a specialized entity offering therapeutic services, aimed to underscore the significance of counseling in nurturing the holistic development of students. Brainpreneurs, comprising a team of experts including clinical psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, neurologists, and pediatricians, joined hands with SKUAST-Jammu to provide comprehensive support to students, ensuring their optimal growth and happiness.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare, emphasized the pivotal role of counseling in empowering students on their journey of self-discovery and personal growth. He highlighted counseling as a nurturing space where students can freely explore their thoughts, emotions, and concerns, equipping them with essential coping mechanisms and life skills crucial for academic success and holistic development.
Resource persons from Brainpreneurs, including Ms. Pallavi Sachdeva, Pallavi Mahajan, Lilly Bhan, and Sansar Chand, commended the initiative and stressed the importance of regular counseling sessions for mental health. They elaborated on the numerous benefits of mental health counseling, such as improved coping skills, heightened self-awareness, and enhanced self-esteem. These sessions, they noted, provide a safe platform for students to navigate academic pressures and personal challenges, empowering them to devise effective strategies for managing stress and adversities. The resource persons also facilitated games and exercises designed to alleviate stress among the students.
Dr. Shilpa Sood and Dr. Sehar Masud, wardens of the girls' hostel, emphasized the significance of mental health support within campus communities, reaffirming the commitment of SKUAST-Jammu to prioritize students' mental well-being.
