JAMMU, Feb 14: Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar celebrated Basant Panchami: the Arrival of Spring season, in the Department of Music. Basant Panchami, also known as Saraswati Puja, marks the arrival of spring and is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Saraswati, the embodiment of wisdom, knowledge, and art. The celebration begun with paying reverence to the Goddess Saraswati by the Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna, the staff members and the students of the college. The celebration was marked by traditional Saraswati Puja to seek blessings of knowledge and wisdom, musical performances and serving of delicious traditional cuisine.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College said that "We are thrilled to welcome this year's Basant Panchami which brings together people from all walks of life to rejoice in the beauty of spring and the spirit of creativity." She further hoped that the day will not only entertain and delight us but will also foster a sense of unity and belongingness.
