Impact lecture on entrepreneurship organized at GDC Hiranagar

JAMMU, Feb 15: Institution's Innovation Council of Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar organized an impact lecture on entrepreneurship skills. Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) established at Higher Educational Institutions aim in planning, channelizing and organizing round the year activities in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship and IPR to sensitize and motivate students and faculties to pursue innovation and start-up during the academic time. The college was selected for the impact lectures by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell owing to the different initiatives the IIC of the College has executed in the last year. The impact lectures are organized by inviting external experts on innovation, IPR and start up. The objective of the session is to generate awareness and skill among students and faculties of IIC.
The session was presided over by Dr. Pragya Khanna, the Principal of the College. Dr. Pragya Khanna in her address emphasized upon the commitment of the College is imparting skill-based knowledge to the students so that the students would be able to realize their goals after their studies. The session was graced by Mrs. Varuna Anand Chairperson FICCI FLO, ((Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies organization)) Ms. Geetika Kohli, Ms. Surbhi Mehta, Ms. Ruchika Gupta and Ms. Sona Mehta who all hold expertise and experience in their respective fields of entrepreneurship.
The session started with traditional lightning of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana under the guidance of Department of Music. Ms. Varuna Anand Chairperson of FICCI FLO Jammu-Kashmir & Ladakh provided a brief intro about FICCI FLO and also inspired the gathering by her success story. She has been a promising entrepreneur and has won a number of awards like The Times Women Achievers Award, Women Entrepreneurship Awards and many more.
The speakers emphasized that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business; it's about creating value, seizing opportunities, and igniting change. It's about daring to dream, taking risks, and persisting in the face of challenges. Throughout history, entrepreneurs have been the driving force behind innovation, economic growth, and societal progress.
Ms. Geetika Kohli a renowned Entrepreneur, Author, and Founder of Thinksta motivated the students of the college for venturing into innovation through a brainstorming session while Ms. Surbhi Mehta gave a detailed analysis of different financial opportunities for the young minds to enter into the realm of entrepreneurship.. The session was attended by Dr. Poonam Kamotra President Institution's Innovation Council of the College. Prof. Amit Sharma, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Prof. Namrata Choudhary, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Dr. Rajni Bala, Prof. Neeru and others. The session was coordinated by Dr. Arun Kumar and ended with the formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Rakesh Sharma.
