BSF commended for demonstrating valor; increased retreat ceremony days to boost tourism: Raman Suri
2/15/2024 10:43:12 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 15: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri, praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for its display of valor, patriotism, and ceremonial lowering of the Indian flag during the evening Retreat Ceremony on the International Border (IB) at Suchetgarh. Suri applauded BSF's decision to extend the ceremonial parade from two to four days, citing it as a welcome move that would significantly enhance tourism.
Emphasizing the importance of BSF's decision, Suri noted that the expanded schedule of the Retreat Ceremony, now held on Wednesday and Thursday in addition to Saturday and Sunday, would accommodate more tourists. This initiative aims to showcase valor, patriotism, and the solemn act of lowering the Indian flag, along with the closure of border gates as part of the ceremony. Suri highlighted that the prolonged duration of the Retreat Ceremony would offer tourists a more enriching experience, ensuring they return with fond memories of their visit to the International Border at Suchetgarh.
Considering the surge in tourist footfall at the international border, Suri hailed BSF's decision as timely and appropriate. He underscored the significance of witnessing jawans and officers in uniform marching and witnessing the Indian Tricolor being lowered, which evokes a sense of pride and patriotism among spectators.
Suri urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to consider constructing larger pavilions at the location of the Retreat Ceremony in Suchetgarh to accommodate more people. He also stressed the importance of involving the tourism department to enhance facilities and amenities for tourists, fostering an environment of patriotism and national pride.
The Retreat Ceremony on the International Border, inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor in 2021, has emerged as a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from far and wide. Suchetgarh, located approximately 27 km from Jammu, holds historical significance as a pre-Partition route to Sialkot, now in Pakistan.
