Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: District Magistrate Udhampur Saloni Rai, has ordered closure of 4 hotels and a Banquet Halls for violation of pollution control norms. In accordance to the directive from the J&K PCB, and with the approval of the competent authority, the DM invoked section 33(A) of the Water Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1974, and section 31(A) of the Air Prevention and control of pollution Act 1981 Act, read with section 5 of environment protection Act, 1986 against 5 hotels and a banquet hall, including Hotel Singh Axis, Hotel Singh Shine, Banquet Hall Sangam Palace Chopra Shop, Hotel Oasis and Hotel Devika within the jurisdiction of Udhampur District. A team of officials involving the Revenue, Police, and PCB led by Tehsildar Udhampur, Jai Singh and Tehsildar Chenani, Pankaj Singh Bahu enforced the closure of the identified establishments. The joint team not only facilitated the shutdown of the mentioned establishments but also provided guidance to the hotel owners, urging strict adherence to the guidelines outlined by the PCB. This action aims to ensure environmental compliance and control pollution in the region. |
