| BJP to raise discrimination issue in assembly | | |

In addition to the fair distribution of assembly of Lok Sabha seats to all three regions of the state, the BJP members in the ensuing session of the assembly would forcefully take up all the issues pertaining to the problems facing the people, especially that of regional disparities, growing unemployment long pending rehabilitation of West Pak refugees as also those of migrants from Pakistan occupied Kashmir and internally displaced persons from the valley of Kashmir and other areas.
Addressing a meeting of the party activists at Kabir Basti and other places here today the leader of the BJP Legislators Party , Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that the issue of Delimitation is linked with many basic problems as fair distribution of assembly seats would empower Jammu of their due which would help in solving many political and other problems like that of separatism, fundamentalism and even to armed militancy.
Prof. Gupta said that what was the justification for providing just providing 37 assembly seats to Jammu as against 46 assembly seats to Kashmir when Jammu was having higher number of electorates and almost double the geographical area than that of valley. And it was height of political discrimination that the National Conference dispensation had amended the state constitution putting an embargo that there would be no fresh delimitation of assembly constituencies in this state till 2026, but there was no such restriction in other parts of the country.
Terming the new gang-up of the Congress-National Conference as a danger signal, the BJP leader recalled that their unity had resulted in unopposed/victory of all the 75 members assembly in the first elections of 1951, which had ultimely led to big agitation in Jammu of 1952-53, and Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah getting in bowilderedness for over 22 years. The second marriage of these two parties took place in 1975 leading to this state to face emergency alongwith other parts of the country, and then these jilted lovers had again marriage of convenience in 1986 leading to big bunglings in the 1987 assembly elections causing great resentment which was exploited by Pakistan to give birth to armed militancy and cross border terror.
Their fresh joining of has demonstrated in the manipulation of all the four Rajya Sabha seats to these parties and given no representation to any minority, he added and said this single step could be taken as a trailor for the events to come.
Prof. Gupta pointed out that elections to the assembly had taken place in December last and after expiry of about two months and ruling dispensation is convening a just small session of the legislature providing little time to the members to discuss plethora of problems facing the state and its people.
Still the BJP would try their best to raise maximum number of burning issues for which the party members have submitted large that number of questions, bills and resultions, he said and disclosed that a bill has also been submitted for seeking subsistence allowance for educated unemployed youths and a resolution for grant of heritage status to Jammu Tawi to save the ecomology of this historic city.
The problems of the Jammu West Assembly constituency would also be raised especially pertaing to the severage and drainage as also those of slums and traffice management etc.
At the meeting the activists raised the numerous problems which remained unattended for the past many years.
