Early Times Report
SAMBA, Feb 15: Samba Police has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a bovine smuggler who had been on the run, along with rescuing two bovines, in a smuggling attempt intercepted within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. The operation also led to the seizure of a Wagon R car believed to be used for bovine transportation.
The arrested bovine smuggler, identified as Tanver Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed Doyee, and resident of Kadder Anantnag, was wanted in connection with a case registered against him at Police Station Samba under FIR No. 44/2024 u/s 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
In a separate operation, a police team from Police Station Ghagwal, while conducting routine vehicle checks at naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a Wagon R car with registration number JK02BB-5655, approaching from the Kathua side. The driver of the vehicle attempted to evade the police by speeding away, endangering the lives of the officers on duty. However, the vigilant police managed to halt the vehicle near the checkpoint. Upon inspection, two bovines were discovered inside the car, tied in a cruel manner and being transported illegally without valid permission. Despite the interception, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene under the cover of darkness. A case under FIR No. 19/2023 U/S 188, 336 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 50, 52, 54 Transport of Animal Rules has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
The successful operation underscores the commitment of Samba Police to combat illegal activities such as bovine smuggling and ensures the safety and well-being of both animals and law enforcement personnel in the region.
