| Dr. Shrivatsa conferred with Hindi Samman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | SEPT 20 Dr. Satya Pal Shrivatsa, a renowned scholar of the J&K state was conferred with the prestigious “Gangashram Singh Award” under Hindi Sevi Samman scheme run by Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra, a pioneering Hindi Institute under the union ministry of human resources and development, government of India. The president of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam presented the award, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Septmber, 14 Dr. Shrivatsa is the first scholar of state who had been selected for this prestigious award. So far 68 scholars of Hindi language across the country have been hounoured with this award. Born at village at village Surari( Sialana ) tehsil Billawar, District Kathua, dr. Shrivatsa started his career as a school teacher ad later joined higher education Department of the state as professor of Hindi –cum-Sanskrit. He also awarded a senior fellowship by the department of culture, government of India to work on folk dances of Jammu region. He also attended several literary conferences and seminar-cum-workshops including All India Oriental conference, world Sanskrit conference and various other conferences organized by the Sahitya Academy, new Delhi, Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra, akhil Bhartiya Hindi Sanstha Sangh, Linguistic Society of India etc. At present he is associated with serial literary organizations and also working as organizer o f Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha, a prestigious Institution established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1936 for J&K. His several books have been published in English, Hindi, and Dogri. He is regular contributor to the literary journals, Doordarshan , radio & local newspaper.
