Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 16: In a proactive step towards combating drug abuse in Indian society, the NSS Unit in collaboration with IQAC of Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal organized an awareness program on "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" as part of the Viksit Bharat @2047 initiative.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge ceremony, held at GDC Darhal, witnessed the active participation of students from all semesters and teachers, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against substance addiction.
Nasha Mukt Bharat is a nationwide initiative initiated by the Government of India aimed at creating a drug-free nation. The pledge symbolizes a collective commitment from individuals, organizations, and communities to eradicate substance abuse and contribute to a healthier and happier society.
The ceremony commenced with a compelling speech by Prof. Musaraf Shah, the Principal of GDC Darhal, highlighting the detrimental effects of substance abuse and emphasizing the imperative for collective action to address this pressing issue. Prof. Shah motivated attendees, particularly students, to become responsible citizens and advocate for a drug-free lifestyle.
Students, being the architects of the nation's future, enthusiastically took the pledge during the ceremony. The pledge underscored the importance of raising awareness about the harmful consequences of substance abuse, extending support to individuals grappling with addiction, and actively participating in community-driven initiatives to foster a drug-free environment.
GDC Darhal is committed to advancing this initiative by organizing awareness programs, workshops, and seminars to educate students and the local community about the perils of drug addiction. Collaboration with local authorities, NGOs, and educational institutions will be sought to devise a cohesive strategy for breaking the cycle of drug abuse and enhancing rehabilitation services.
To sustain this endeavor, GDC Darhal plans to establish a dedicated cell within the premises to provide guidance, counseling, and support related to drug addiction for both students and faculty. Additionally, the college intends to forge partnerships with drug treatment centers and engage experts to conduct workshops and counseling sessions.
The ceremony concluded with students and faculty members expressing their unwavering commitment to Nasha Mukt Bharat. Their dedication sets a commendable precedent for other institutions and communities, inspiring collective action towards the mission of eradicating drug abuse.
