Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Feb 16: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today inaugurated a transformative ten-day digital awareness program for a group of fifty students of Parisha and Palaash-Child Care Institutions. The initiative has been taken under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan, a visionary scheme aimed to empower rural populace across the States and Union Territories of the country by enhancing their digital literacy.
The core objective of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan is to equip citizens in rural regions with essential digital skills, enabling them to proficiently operate computers and digital access devices such as tablets and smart phones. Through comprehensive training, participants will learn to navigate the digital landscape, enabling them to perform tasks like sending and receiving emails, browsing the internet, accessing government services, seeking information, and conducting digital payments.
The scheme's inclusive approach targets rural populations, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), minorities, individuals below the poverty line (BPL), women, and persons with disabilities. By using the Information Technology and its applications, especially digital payment mechanisms, the scheme endeavors to foster active participation from rural communities in the nation-building process.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of embracing digital literacy as a catalyst for socio-economic advancement. He underscored the pivotal role of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan in bridging the digital divide, particularly among marginalized segments of society.
The DC urged participants to wholeheartedly engage with the training program, recognizing its potential to uplift communities and facilitate greater access to opportunities in the digital age. By equipping individuals with essential digital skills, the initiative not only empowers them to use the digital platforms but also foster their active participation in the socio-economic fabric of the nation.
The inauguration of the ten-day digital awareness program marks a pivotal milestone in the journey towards a digitally empowered society. Through sustained efforts and collaboration, initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan are realizing the vision of a digitally inclusive India.
DSWO, Abdul Raheem, TSWO and officials of the Social Welfare Department were present.
