Principal GDC felicitates winners of Intercollege Football Tournament

KATHUA, Feb 16: Principal GDC Kathua Prof. Seema Mir today felicitated the winners teams of Jammu University Football (M&W) Inter-college organized by Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, University of Jammu. The felicitation ceremony was organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, GDC Kathua. The Football (M&W) Team of GDC Kathua defeated the Football team of ASCOMS in straight set of matches by the lead of 1 points penalty shoot out. Previously, Football (M&W) teams got the BYE and fought for the second match and entered the quarter Finals with Govt. Degree College Samba, where GDC Kathua boys out played GDC Samba by 10 points and Entered to Semi Final with Govt. Degree College Udhampur. Gdc Kathua played well but, lost to GDC Udhampur in Semi Final by 02 points. In the last GDC Kathua played a crucial match for third Position with GDC Bhaderwah and won by one minute lead. GDC Kathua women Football Team secured third position in the battle of 04 teams from all the affiliated colleges of Jammu University. The team lead by Dr Pinky Sharma, Department of Physical Education & Sports, GDC Kathua, whereas GDC Kathua Men tean snatched first position by defeating ASCOMS. The men team was lead by Prof. Ashok Kumar from Department of BCA. The Principal of the college applauded the students of Football (M&W) teams for this marvelous win in the University level tournament. She also congratulated the Physical Directors for the miraculous achievement of the students of the college. The Principal appreciated the members of College Football (M&W) Team for their regular hard practice and Punctuality for the game. He also stressed upon the fact that the sports persons of the college are always bringing great laurels to this premier institute in University Intercollegiate Competitions, All India Inter University, State level and National and Sr. National Level. She also explained that the department of Physical Education and Sports under the able supervision of Physical Director/PTI is showing outstanding performance not only in the field of sports but, in academics also by organizing one International Certificate Course and two International Webinars in collaboration with Foreign Universities and International Organizations of the world. Esteemed Principal was accompanied by the senior faculty members of the College including Prof. R K Pandita from Department of Zoology, Prof. R K Manhas, Prof. Ram Singh, Prof. Yashpal Sharma, Prof. Shivani Kotwal (Convenor Sports Board), Prof. Ambika Rajput, Prof. Neeraj Gupta, Physics, Dr Goutam Singh BCA, Prof.Siloni Chirag, Prof. Arvind Kumar, Dr J S Soodan, and Sh. Sandeep Sharma (Physical Directors), Dr Shiv Kumar, Dr Nitu, Prof. Rakhi, Dr EVA Sharma, Dr Nitasha, Dr Waseem Paddar, and Dr. Rohit Sharma. Later on, Esteemed Principal welcomed the Winners and honored them with floral garlands in the august presence of students and teachers. Who represented the college at the Jammu University Inter College Tournament 2023-24 organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu during the felicitation ceremony here at GDC Kathua.
