RS PURA, Feb 17: In an endeavor to raise awareness about combating parasitic infections, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC), R. S Pura, organized an insightful lecture on "Anti-Helminthes Drug Administration" as part of its ongoing 7-day special winter camp.
Under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Rajni Bhagat, the Principal of the college, and the diligent supervision of Dr. Chanchal Angral, NSS Programme Officer, the event proved to be an enlightening session for the participants.
The lecture commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Chanchal Angral, emphasizing the significance of anti-helminthes drugs in mitigating parasitic infections prevalent across the globe. Dr. Shalini Bhagat, a distinguished Gynaecologist from NTPHC Chakroi, took the stage to deliver an informative discourse. Dr. Bhagat shed light on lymphatic filariasis, a debilitating infectious disease caused by roundworm parasites transmitted through mosquito vectors, particularly emphasizing its impact and preventive measures.
Dr. Monika Kotwal, the Block Medical Officer of R.S Pura, provided valuable insights into the eradication of mosquitoes and highlighted the importance of vaccination for cervical cancer prevention in females. The presence and support of Dr. Renu Manhas and Dr. Jasmeet Singh further enriched the occasion.
The lecture attracted around 50 enthusiastic students, who actively participated and engaged in the discussion. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks extended by Prof. Shifali Abrol, an Associate Professor from the Department of Zoology.
