Miss World Undeclared’ Strikes a Chord at Natrang Studio Theatre
2/18/2024 10:36:39 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 18: In a poignant portrayal of societal prejudices and the pursuit of true beauty, Natrang Studio Theatre presented ‘Miss World Undeclared,’ a Hindi play written by Satyendra Shrivastava and directed by Neeraj Kant. The performance, part of Natrang’s Weekly Theatre Series, Sunday Theatre, captivated audiences with its heartfelt narrative.
The esteemed presence of Mrs. Varsha Jain, wife of ADG Police Jammu zone, as the Chief Guest added to the significance of the occasion.
Mrs. Jain commended the young artists for their exceptional performances and applauded Natrang for nurturing new talent and providing platforms for their expression in the realm of theatre.
‘Miss World Undeclared’ sheds light on the plight of Asians residing in developed European countries, grappling with racial discrimination and animosity from the native population. Through the eyes of ‘Noorie,’ a schoolgirl subjected to bullying by her fair-skinned classmates, the play delves into the harsh realities faced by those deemed different.
Noorie’s journey, guided by her wise mother, challenges conventional notions of beauty, emphasizing the importance of inner virtues over external appearances. Empowered by her mother’s wisdom, Noorie learns to embrace her uniqueness and finds solace in the triumph of an Indian girl in the Miss World pageant.
The play concludes on a positive and uplifting note, underscoring the timeless message that true happiness stems not from outward beauty, but from the richness of one’s character.
The stellar performances of Natrang’s young artists, particularly Mehak Chib as ‘Noorie’ and Vandana Thakur as ‘Mother,’ resonated deeply with the audience. Neeraj Kant’s skillful lighting design, coupled with Chaitanaya Shekhar’s evocative music, added layers of depth to the production.
Mohd. Yaseen’s seamless coordination ensured a flawless execution of the show, leaving a lasting impact on all those in attendance. ‘Miss World Undeclared’ stands as a poignant reminder of the power of storytelling to inspire empathy, provoke thought, and ignite positive change in society.
