| Lecturers’ forum call on VC | | | Jammu, September 19, A delegation of All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers Forum led by its state president Mr H.D Qureshi met Prof. Amitabh Matoo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu in his office chambers here today. The delegation comprising D.P Dutta and Kiranjeet Kour both Vice Presidents, S. Gurcharan Singh General Secretary, Charan Dass Chief Organiser and Dr Ranjodh Singh Jamwal District President Jammu besides Mr Qureshi discussed the overall academic scenario in the state and the specific role of Jammu University in spreading education across the state particularly in rural area of the Jammu region. The delegation apprised the Vice Chancellor the barriers of entrance test in the way of admission in PhD for Plus 2 lecturers and appealed for the exemption of Plus 2 teachers at par with their counterparts in collages and university. The delegation discussed the suggestive proposals for capacity building of teachers at Senior Secondary level in various disciplines by extending the services of academic experts in the university. The delegation also invited the attention of Vice Chancellor towards the PSC clearance for Plus 2 lecturers on 40 percent in-service quota and sought the intervention of Mr Matoo for its wave off, as the teachers at the Senior Secondary level have already cleared the Service Commission at the time of their entry in to Plus 2 cadre. The delegation highly appreciated the sincere efforts of Mr Matoo for upgrading the status of Jammu University at National and Global level both academically and also in non-scholastic areas by organizing the games of SAARC countries and constructing the Zorawar Singh Stadium in the premises of University. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the approach of Forum for the suggestive proposals and assured to organise the academic orientation course and also consider the exemption of Plus 2 Lecturers cadre from the entrance list for admission in PhD and also to take up the matter with the government for waving off the condition of PSC interview for in-service quota of Plus 2 Lecturers. Others who accompanied the delegation include Nitu Gandotra, NidhiVerma, Pushpa Lochan and Kulzam Begum.
