Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 22: A delegation representing the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, led by its President, Arun Gupta, recently convened a crucial meeting with Bhawani Singh Rakhwal, KAS, Vice Chairman of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA). The meeting served as a platform to address longstanding developmental concerns and advocate for crucial initiatives aimed at enhancing the commercial and residential landscape of Jammu.
During the interaction, Sh. Arun Gupta articulated the pressing need for the establishment of new commercial areas and residential colonies in Jammu, citing a significant dearth over the past two and a half decades. Emphasizing the importance of accommodating unemployed educated youth and middle-class families, Gupta urged swift action to address this critical shortfall.
Highlighting specific grievances, Gupta drew attention to the prolonged delay in executing lease deeds for shops at Shiv Market Railway Station, extending over a troubling period of 15 years. He stressed the imperative of expediting these processes to facilitate business operations without further hindrance. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the allocation of commercial shops in the Bahu Plaza area, where possession had been allotted but lease deeds remained pending. Gupta urged prompt resolution, underscoring the impact on livelihoods and the need for swift administrative action.
Addressing safety concerns, Gupta advocated for the repair and redevelopment of the old bus stand building, proposing a transformative multistory project to ensure the continuity of business activities for existing shopkeepers and businessmen. The delegation also voiced their support for restarting the process of granting freehold rights to plot holders in the Trikuta Nagar Housing Colony, urging a swift resumption of stalled initiatives.
On the critical issue of Change of Land Use (CLU), Gupta pressed for the expedited clearance of pending files to streamline regulatory processes and facilitate developmental projects.
In response, Sh. Bhawani S. Rakwal, Vice Chairman of JDA, assured the delegation of the authority's commitment to ongoing efforts in developing new residential colonies and commercial sites. He pledged personal attention to resolving the outstanding issue of lease deeds at Shiv Market Railway Station and invited the Chamber of Commerce to collaborate on actionable solutions for the Bahu Plaza shopkeepers.
Accompanying the delegation were other esteemed office bearers including Anil Gupta, Sr. Vice President, Rajeev Gupta, Jr. Vice President, Manish Gupta, Secretary General, Rajesh Gupta, Secretary, and Arun Gupta, Executive Member. Their collective advocacy underscored a shared commitment to fostering robust economic growth and infrastructure development in the region.
As discussions concluded, optimism prevailed for collaborative endeavors between the Chamber of Commerce and the JDA, signaling a proactive approach towards addressing the developmental needs of Jammu.
