DDC reviews progress of JJM; emphasizes proper monitoring of ongoing works

BANDIPORA, Feb 22: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman Rather on Thursday chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat, here to take a thorough review of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.
The meeting discussed various works of JJM, including bore wells/ tube wells/dug wells, rapid sand filtration plant, pipe network, Over Head Tanks and other electro mechanical works.
The chair was apprised that in Jal Shakti Division (JSD) Bandipora, 175 works of 66 water supply schemes (WSS) were taken up, out of which 168 were tendered and 55 works stand completed as on date.
It was given out that in JSD Sopore, 145 out of a total 147 works have been tendered and allotted, and 31 works have been completed so far.
The meeting was informed that in SSD Gurez, 11 out of 25 works have been completed so far.
Reviewing the progress of JJM in Sumbal sub-division, the chair was apprised that under WSS Sadatpora Naidkhai, 80 percent work is completed for retrofitting and 90 percent work is completed for construction of two 0.25 lac gallon capacity OHTs besides work is going on for the construction and commissioning of 0.55 lac gallon capacity OHT at Bonpora for WSS Sadatpora Naidkhai.
The DC, on the occasion, emphasized proper monitoring of ongoing works to maintain the quality and to complete the works within stipulated time. He also asked the concerned departments to remove bottlenecks, if any, for timely completion of projects and also took a serious view of the delay in JJM works due to lapse on the part of contractors/ agencies. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Umar Shafi Pandit, ACD Mumtaz Ahmad Pir, Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Maqbool, ExEn PHE Bandipira/Sopore and other concerned officers and officials.
